FFFoxy Podcast #276 is now available. It’s been over a month since the last episode. Let’s just say that life has been rather hectic on a variety of fronts in that time, making it difficult to get a new show produced, but I’m hoping to get back into a more consistent schedule in the summer months ahead. I’ve got a fairly packed new music-heavy show for you this time, which sort of mirrors the all-over-the-place headspace I’ve been in and the different listening trails I’ve been heading down. I hope you come across at least a few new discoveries throughout this show. Link to listening options in bio.
For Bandcamp Friday, The Thirsty Giants will have the digital version of, Escape the Junkyard, available for pre-order through their Bandcamp. We’ve added another track, Endless Repulsion, for immediate streaming, too. The full album will be released on May 29th. You can also pre-order the LP version through Round Bale Recordings’ Bandcamp. Copies are slated to arrive very soon. The Thirsty Giants are also making a select number of their limited Germs-inspired t-shirts available, which will come with a free download of the full album. Any support is greatly appreciated. Links for ordering in bio.

A few things that you’ll hear on this Thursday’s Free Form Freakout show at 2:00 p.m. on KMSU. Got a busy couple weeks ahead, so the next podcast episode will likely take a bit longer than usual. More soon.
The second song from The Thirsty Giants’ forthcoming album, Escape the Junkyard, is available today on their Bandcamp and through the usual streaming services. It’s called No Future; a moodier, mid-tempo, vaguely post-punk-informed track. Full album details for Escape the Junkyard will be coming in a couple of weeks, along with pre-ordering options for the vinyl edition on Round Bale Recordings and info on upcoming Thirsty Giants shows.
Catch the latest episode of the FFFoxy Podcast tonight at 11:00 on KMSU. It’s a feature on the 12XU label run by Gerard Cosloy out of Austin, Texas. Tune in at 89.7 FM or stream it live from kmsu.org or from the KMSU mobile app.
FFFoxy Podcast #275 is now available. On this episode, I dig deeper into the 12XU label run by Gerard Cosloy in Austin, Texas. Cosloy is a veteran of the independent label and underground music scene in the U.S., dating back to his days working at Homestead Records and self-publishing his Conflict zine in the 1980s, to later co-running the influential Matador Records label from the start of the 1990s through to this day. 12XU was started in the early 2000s by Cosloy as a means to release albums he was passionate about, but for various reasons, didn’t necessarily fit within Matador’s scope and focus. In its roughly 25 years of operation, 12XU has issued well over 150 titles, with some recent personal favorites being from artists such as The Gotobeds, Mope Grooves, Water Damage, Lewsburg, Weak Signal, and several others.
This past week, I had a chance to speak with Gerard about the beginnings of 12XU and how the label has evolved over the years. We also discussed his weekly radio show on East Village Radio, his new solo release under his given name, his thoughts on the current state of independent labels and music, and other topics. You’ll hear this interview in a few segments throughout the show, along with tracks from the 12XU catalog, including a block from the next wave of new releases. Hope you enjoy this episode and the rest of your weekend.
