"Do you think that everything experiences time?" Just one of the big questions we're asking in Time Keeps The Drummer. Our amazing Brighton cast are in their final days of rehearsals. These twelve local children have been learning choreography, becoming their own versions of stressed out adults, and so much more! It will all come together over 5 incredible hours, challenging your perception of time and asking you to rethink what it even means. See it for yourself, and get lost in time... 🗓️ 8–10 May 📍 Brighton Dome Corn Exchange ✨ Part of @brightonfestival 🔗 tickets follow link in bio

Every show we make is built on creative collaboration. The incredible people we work with don't just help us — they shape, challenge and elevate every idea into something we could never have made alone. Time Keeps The Drummer has been brought to life by some of the most talented, generous creatives we know — from the soundscape to the visuals. Many of whom we've had the joy of working with for years! We asked them what drew them to this project — and their passion reminded us exactly why we do this. Here's to the makers, the collaborators, the risk takers ...and the joy of creating together. Over to you collaborators! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mariam Rezaei @mariam_rezaei is a multi-award-winning composer, turntablist and performer working across experimental new music, free improvisation, mutant club music and hip-hop. Described by The Wire as “one of the most technically adept and creatively daring artists to use the turntable as a musical instrument,” Bob @lauraannprice_0 represented the UK at International Design Festival Prague Quadrennial as part of Staging Places with their design for Talking Heads, (Leeds Playhouse). Subsequently, the design was exhibited in the V&A Museum and The National Centre for Craft and Design. Hansjörg Schmidt @hansjorgschmidt is a lighting designer, working regularly with a group of UK based practitioners, artists and theatre companies. He is the Director of Production and Design at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. From May 2010 to June 2023, he ran the BA (Hons) Lighting Design and then the MA Light in Performance at Rose Bruford College. Matthew Beh-Moore @matthewbehmoore is a versatile creative professional, working both as a recording and performing artist and an experienced session musician. Alongside his music career, he is also an actor who merges musicality and innocence into each role he takes. #feveredsleep #behindthescenes #collaborators #creativeteam

Behind every moment on stage, there's a room full of people making it possible. Alongside our Artistic Directors, there are our movement directors, production team, chaperones, and every pair of hands that has worked behind the scenes — past and present — this one's for you! They set the stage. They hold the space. They take care of the children. In the final leg of our tour, we asked our Brighton team a little about themselves and their relationship to time! We see you, we honour you, and none of this could exist without you. Thank you. Over to you! ---------------------------------------------------------- Questions: 1. What has been your favourite moment so far? 2. How does time affect you? Nathan - Movement Director 1. Seeing the kids grow in their movement development 2. Time affects my feelings in many ways especially how I plan my daily routine Sam - Production Manager 1. My 6 year old nephew seeing it in Nottingham - his first FS experience and he still asks about the skeletons birthday party! 2. In a way I don't like. Time goes quickly. It's important to take more time. Gill - Stage Manager 1. The ghost opera rehearsal. The display of passion from the performers has been inspiring! 2. I feel like I don't have enough of it! But I'm renewing my efforts to use what I have in a meaningful and positive way. Bolaji - Chaperone 1. It's almost impossible to choose a favourite moment because I really enjoy observing every stage of the creative process. 2. Time seems to move very quickly during these sessions because I'm so invested, and it's made me appreciate each stage of the process even more. Oceana - Assistant Stage Manager 1. It's been so interesting to hear the cast talk about how adults are always on their phones! 2. Depends if I've had a coffee... Dante - Assistant Chaperone 1. I've really enjoyed seeing how the children have come out of their shells, especially with the movement workshops with Nathan 2. Time moves very quickly for me at the moment, the days just seem to roll by and it feels like only yesterday I was back in college #behindthescene #creativeteams #feveredsleep

'How does time affect you?' During this run of Time Keeps The Drummer @brightonfestival we've been sitting with that question — how does time affect you? We were last here in 2008 with An Infinite Line: Brighton — a show about light, time and change. Now, 18 years later, here we are. Older, wiser, but still chasing the same questions, still fascinated by the same themes. And somehow, time kept us coming back... #theatre #newwork #brighton

Rehearsals are well underway with our Brighton company for Time Keeps The Drummer — and we're looking back at what it takes to find them. Our artistic directors had just 90 minutes to meet each child: to learn their names, watch them play, dance, listen, and surprise themselves. Not to find the most experienced performers — quite the opposite. We were looking for 12 'ordinary' children (we know there's no such thing) for whom everything about making and performing a show would be entirely brand new. "We're not looking to create a piece of performative 'childness', we need you to be just entirely yourselves, unmasked, unapologetic, perfect imperfect humans." 90 minutes is never quite enough to really get to know someone — but it's always ample time to want to know more 🥁 Read the full blog at the link in our bio. 📸 @benedictjohnsonphoto The Place 2025 #blog #brightontheatre #brightonfestival #timekeepsthedrummer #feveredsleep #newwork
