I gasped when her trunk opened.
And I’m pretty sure Jennifer of
@feteflora saw the shock on my face.
I had seen snippets of the flowers shared from sneak peeks by fellow wedding vendors earlier that morning, but when I saw these in person, this sea of peonies, roses, ranunculus, lisianthus, feverfew, astrantia, and so much more built in to the incredible Bloom Collection that Jennifer and Rebekah had created for this wedding instantly made my heart beat a little faster.
Box after overflowing box of the most gorgeous bloom collection I was going to preserve. And my first thought, honestly, was “Omgoodness, there is *so* much here.”
But here’s what years of doing this work quietly teaches you:
👉 sometimes, an instant gasp is just adrenaline that hasn’t found its footing yet.
So I got them home.
Pulled out every vase I had.
And began separating them, vase by vase by vase.
I looked at what I actually had in front of me, organized what had to be preserved first and last based on importance and wilt-ability rate in the next four days,
And I knew.
*I can do this.*
Because this? This will become an incredible heirloom collection for both the couple and their family.
🌸 and every single flower has a purpose.
This is also why, before a bloom pickup is scheduled, I ask what I will be receiving from you.
I ask what flowers are in your bouquet, and if there will be any additional flowers that I will be preserving too.
Different flowers require different pressing methods along with space in my flower presses since I press almost every single flower petal by petal, and I ask these questions so that I can have everything I need ready to go for you, and so that I can preserve them before they wilt (which, on average, is less than 4 days after a wedding)
So this weekend, I was as ready as I could be.
Ready to receive thousands of petals with intention.
So if you’re wondering,
“how do you preserve this many flowers at once?”
After pressing thousands of petals over the years, the answer is still the same:
One bloom at a time.
