🚒 CARGO is the story of a journey that the filmmaker made on a container ship with a group of Romanian, Polish, and Filipino sailors, who were delivering cargo to the Middle East. Most of the sailors weren’t allowed to leave the boat, and they spent their days waiting, singing karaoke, and telling stories. In Syria, the ports were military zones, so she hid at a porthole and secretly filmed the life below: a man stealing wood, a soldier fishing off the edge of an abandoned submarine. Later, Waddington made a narrative that falls between reality and fiction as a way of showing the limbo that these men were living in. 🎬 CARGO by Laura Waddington is part of our event with @this.is.short ! 🎟 This film is available for free worldwide on Festival Scope until May 31!

‼️ Last days to watch our selection of works from @ficcifestival ! πŸƒ In APOTNOJUSHI (THE HOUSE OF THE WIND), director Marbel Vanegas Jusayu documents the social, spiritual, and environmental impacts of the installation of a wind farm in Apotnojushi, a historically marginalized community that remains committed to its sovereignty. Women leaders such as Ana Rosa Jusayu, the director’s mother, work to strengthen the social fabric, activate historical memory, and assert their right to determine their future. Through the voices and living portraits of community members, the piece reflects in its vignettes the community’s deep connection to its ancestral territory. 🎟 This film is available for free worldwide on Festival Scope until May 15!

🍿 @semaine_de_la_critique is officially here! Born from a desire to break the mold of the traditional festival circuit, this parallel section of Cannes remains the main space for discovering the world’s most singular emerging voices. For over six decades, Semaine de la Critique has stood as the ultimate gateway for first and second-time filmmakers. Run entirely by critics, the section prioritizes revelations, in order to spotlight new modes of storytelling. This year’s selection turns its lens toward the eyes of the young, finding a boundlessness of life even amidst the world's most unsettling dramas. πŸ—“ May 13 - 21 🌟 Still: A GIRL UNKNOWN - Zou Jing

🍿 @association_acid begins today! The 34th edition of ACID Cannes has arrived, stripping away the red carpets to reveal the rawest nerves of contemporary filmmaking. As the festival’s most audacious parallel section, ACID remains a unique β€œlaboratory” where the selection is made entirely by filmmakers themselves. This year’s lineup captures themes of resistance and hope, challenging to rethink our relationship with the world we inhabit. πŸ—“ May 13 - 22 🌟 Still: PROMISED SPACES - Ivan MarkoviΔ‡

🍿 @festivaldecannes starts today! The 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival has officially kicked off! A true global landmark, Cannes has spent nearly eight decades defining the avant-garde and celebrating the legends of the silver screen. While this year major Hollywood blockbusters take a backseat, the 2026 festival sheds the spotlight toward the raw power of international auteurs defining the competition, proving that the future of cinema is being written in the South of France. Beyond the glamour of the Palais, the festival continues to fuel the global industry through a high-stakes @marchedufilm . See you at the movies! πŸ—“ May 12 - 23 🌟Still: I'LL BE GONE IN JUNE - Katharina Rivilis

‼️ Last days to watch our selection of works from @ficcifestival ! βŒ› THE DEVIL’S THROAT by Mateo RamΓrez draws on family archives from a trip to IguazΓΊ Falls, bringing us closer not only to the physicality of memory but also to the traces of absence. Images from the past, filmed by the director’s father, are interrogated by the son in the present, tracing a personal cartography where emptiness, secrets, and grief surface. In this shift between times, the film invites us to witness, as intimate accomplices, a second journey: that of farewell. 🎟 This film is available for free worldwide on Festival Scope until May 15!

🍿 @quinzaine_des_cineastes starts today! The 58th edition of the Quinzaine des CinΓ©astes (Directors' Fortnight) has officially started. For nearly six decades, the Quinzaine has served as a sanctuary for "free-form" visions. The 2026 selection is a masterclass in diversity, spanning 19 countries and 5 continents, spotlighting voices from Nigeria to Guatemala that are too often left in the shadows. This year’s 28 titles represent a fierce "spirit of resistance" against dominant narratives. With a powerful focus on documentaries, animation, and bold debut features, the Quinzaine reaffirms itself as an ultimate hub for artistic audacity. πŸ—“ May 12 - 21 🌟 Still: GABIN - Maxence Voiseux
