**Fertility Awareness in Education Starts Here**
Today, at the end of National Infertility Awareness Week, we (Emma & Katie) were in West Sussex with the National Education Union, (
@westsussexneu ) delivering part of the Fertility Action Education Project - and it was a powerful reminder of why this work matters.
Through science, real-life experiences, and honest conversation, we explored what fertility journeys can look like for teachers - and how school environments can evolve to better support them.
From understanding the biology, to recognising the emotional impact, to acknowledging the many different paths to family building, this event was about one thing: creating more inclusive, informed, and compassionate education settings, so that teachers can thrive with the support they need when entering a family-building pathway.
What made today especially impactful was hearing real stories from teachers navigating fertility challenges alongside the demands of the classroom. These experiences highlighted something important - there is no single journey, and workplace cultures need to reflect that.
Different cultures, different circumstances, different pathways - all deserve understanding and space.
The Fertility Action Education Project has launched for 2026 and is about giving schools, educators and organisations the tools, language, and confidence to support their teams - not just professionally, but personally too.
When people feel seen and supported, they stay. And when they stay, education is stronger.
Thank you to everyone who joined us today and who continue to be part of this important conversation.
