Utah Producer Fitness Club | Artist Spotlight EP.2: Ferrous
Lately Andy, also known as Ferrous @ferrous.project , has been diving into flow arts and blending that energy with his dubstep productions.
He’s been holding instruments since he could talk. Over time that evolved into a deep love for sound design, rhythm, and movement. POI helps him release energy. Dragon staff helps him slow down and reset. Both keep him grounded and inspired.
Music, movement, and mindfulness. That’s the vibe from Andy and Ferrous project.
Right now you’re hearing Ferrous’s unreleased remix of Objects in the Mirror by Mac Miller. Pretty wild how he flipped such a chill track into an energetic drum and bass vibe while still keeping that playful spirit of the original.
Follow for more of his future releases and flow.

If you want your own sound that people can recognize you by, then you’ve gotta create some effects that will stay somewhat consistent throughout your songs.
Building and saving your own effect racks will save you so much time for each track so you can devote more of your attention to being creative elsewhere.
I know I kept each rack pretty simple, but don’t be afraid to pile them on! Find what sounds good to you and allow it to shrink or grow over time.
Have you ever made some dope sounds that all disappear when you put them together?? Using a vectorscope like Izotope’s Ozone Imager can help you give each sound the space it needs before you even get into the mastering process
I decided to just mix and master this project I’ve been building in the tutorials. I will post some videos about how I got it from the last point you heard it at to ready to release.

I’m workin on a house mix and I’ve been having a lot of fun with some of these transitions. I’ll be playin live shows for your ear holes in no time.
Shady Intentions -> Want It
In the Yuma -> Like Whoa
Wrap up your template!
The next part that lots of producers get hung up on all the time is building out the arrangement. Take the challenge out of it by only doing it one time!
As a really simple template you can go off of to start, use what I’ve used:
Intro
Verse 1
Build 1
Drop 1
Break
Verse 2
Build 2
Drop 2
Outro
This will help you start organizing the energy of the song and help to feel out where you want things.
Next you can start adding some melody/vocals/changing that piano song into whatever you please. Don’t get too hung up on anything yet, we’re still trying to feel out ideas in this stage and can wait to get nit picky once there’s stuff to pick at
Part 1 of How to Start releasing tracks: House Template
If you’ve ever tried to learn how to use Ableton then you’re definitely familiar with how frustrating it can be to sit down for hours and still not have made any progress.
One thing you may have realized in your musical consumption career is that MOST SONGS ARENT THAT DIFFERENT. Use this to your advantage while starting new projects by building templates for your genres.
Select a few kicks and top loops, build out a handful of different chord progressions, throw some minimal fx on it, et voila, you’ve saved yourself 1.5 hours every time you sit down to start a new project. That’s a fcking great investment if you ask me
Yoo my name’s Andy. I’m stoked that you’re here to see me off on my journey as a producer.
Whether you’re a producer yourself, beginner or expert, maybe someone who appreciates the nitty gritty nerdy shit that goes into edm, or even just someone who likes a consistent flow of new sounds for your ear holes, then we should make great friends.
As for actual instruments, I mostly just play piano, guitar, and a little bit of trumpet, and might post clips of those every now and then.
Anyway feel free to reach out with tips and tricks, maybe fun ideas that you’d like to hear mashed up, or any questions for me or about ableton and I’ll see what I can do!
