Kernza! . If you’re into shortbread, perennial grains, or outdoor baking in artist-made Cobb ovens, this event is for you! . Join artist Tory Tepp and baker extraordinaire Michael Griffin as they bake delicious Kernza goodies, using flour harvested and milled from a “test plot” of this robust perennial grain, that the artist planted in 2020 with a nearby farming family. . Then make sure to check out Revenant Canoe, the latest earthwork by Tory Tepp at Witwen Park. This upended canoe partially submerged in the wetland habitat will be populated with relics reflecting the relationships between the history of the area with the surrounding land. . The Great Awakening on the Sauk Prairie . Curious about Witwen Park? It’s been a gathering place for more than 100 years. Join Erica Ruggiero, a Principal and Historic Preservation Specialist, for an exploration of its history – from early beginnings as a rural picnic grove; to its transformation into a church campground; to hosting a regional Fourth of July parade and barbeque; to serving as a go-to spot for community connection with concerts, gatherings and public events like Fermentation Fest. . This presentation is free and will take place in the Witwen Tabernacle, Wisconsin’s longest-serving and second-oldest tabernacle, and one of only two remaining in the state today. . #Tabernacle #WitwenParkAndCampground #WisconsinHistory #DiscoverWisconsin #HealingStartsHere #GatheringPlace
