Final commissioning commenced for the Maxwell Overland Conveyor
Recently, five members of the Fenner Conveyors leadership team visited the Maxwell Overland Conveyor system, designed, manufactured and constructed by Fenner Conveyors for Malabar Resources.
Spanning 9 kilometers, this overland conveyor represents a truly collaborative effort across the Fenner portfolio and stands as a strong example of our end‑to‑end, turnkey delivery capability.
The visit provided an opportunity for reflection alongside the Fenner–Malabar projects and management teams, acknowledging both the challenges overcome and the overall success of this major project.
With just two weeks of wet commissioning remaining before transitioning into a support role, it was also a moment to celebrate as the mine moves closer to ramping up to full capacity.
Fenner Conveyors looks forward to continuing our partnership with Malabar and supporting future projects.
Engineered for reliability underground ⛏️⚙️
ACE and CPS combined their engineering expertise to refine pulley design for an underground gold mine, reducing fatigue, minimising failures, and improving throughput.
After analysing real operating conditions and mechanical loads, the team delivered an optimised solution that met strict site requirements while boosting long‑term performance.
The result? Less downtime. More reliability. Proven performance.

Following the launch of our Infinity Series, our first recycled content belt produced locally through our strategic partnership with Tyrecycle, we're happy to share that Tyrecycle will be using the product themselves at their facility in East Rockingham!
This stands testament to our shared commitment to improving the circular manufacturing cycle, and offering more sustainable options to the Australian mining industry.
Together with Tyrecycle, we're transforming end-of-life conveyor belting into new, effective belting solutions that stand up to the same high-standards we demand of all our belting products, helping mining operations improve sustainability and advance their decarbonisation efforts.

Extending belt life in high‑impact iron ore applications
A Pilbara iron ore operation was experiencing premature belt failures due to severe chute loading, high impact and rip‑prone conditions. Steel cord belting was unable to meet the required 24‑week changeout lifecycle.
Fenner trialled UsFlex® straight warp belting to address impact damage, rip propagation and stretch limitations.
The results:
✅ 44 weeks in service (~2x belt life)
✅ Significantly reduced unplanned maintenance
✅ Improved rip resistance and impact absorption
✅ Estimated $1M annual cost savings
✅ Reduced belt disposal, improving sustainability outcomes
UsFlex’s straight warp construction delivers high longitudinal rip resistance and low stretch, making it well suited to replacing steel cord belts in heavy‑duty, high‑impact applications.
🚧 Reducing downtime without compromising safety 🚧
When a major iron ore port near Karratha faced a complex belt changeout involving two completely different belt specifications, traditional methods would have meant 10–12 hours of conveyor downtime. By collaborating with Flexco Australia and deploying an engineered FXC™ Steel Cord Belt Fastening solution, the site achieved up to 50% time savings on the changeout, with even greater reductions possible through advance preparation.
Proud moment! 🎉
Last week we were honoured to receive the Operational Excellence award at the Rio Tinto 2026 Supplier Awards.
The Fenner Conveyors service team, together with Belle Banne Belt Handling Equipment, delivered an innovative belt change‑out at Dampier Port, improving safety, reducing costs, and cutting down turnaround time.
A huge win for everyone involved. 💪
We're proud to share that Fenner has been recognised as the winner of the 2026 Rio Tinto Supplier Award for Operational Excellence!
This achievement is a direct result of the outstanding work delivered by our WA Service Team and Belle Banne Belt Handling Equipment on a first-of-its-kind belt changeout at a busy wharf. Traditionally, this job required a jack-up barge, but our team’s innovative approach delivered reduced costs, faster turnaround, and improved safety for everyone on site.
We’re incredibly proud of our people for pushing boundaries and setting a new benchmark for what’s possible. This award reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence across every project we undertake.
A huge thank you to Rio Tinto for this recognition, and to our team, whose dedication made this achievement possible.
🌱 Introducing the INFINITYSERIES, a new era of sustainable conveyor belting is here.
Last week at our K-MIX Material Innovation Hub Open Day, we unveiled the first belt in our new INFINITYSERIES range, engineered using locally recycled materials processed right here in Kwinana.
Developed in partnership with Tyrecycle, who supply the recycled materials, this new range delivers maximised environmental benefit without compromising performance, supporting industries that need both reliability and real sustainability progress.
The INFINITYSERIES is a major step toward a circular conveyor belting ecosystem, enabling full lifecycle, chain of custody management; from manufacture, to in field use, to return and reincorporation into new belts.
🎉 We’re proud to announce the official opening of Fenner Conveyors’ K‑MIX Materials Innovation Hub in Kwinana, WA!
Last week, we welcomed the Honourable Matthew Swinbourn MLC, along with customers, partners, and industry leaders, to celebrate this major milestone in Australian manufacturing.
A highlight of the day was the launch of our InfinitySeries, Fenner’s first conveyor belt made with locally recycled content through our strategic partnership with Tyrecycle. This first‑of‑its‑kind closed-loop ecosystem is transforming end‑of‑life conveyor belts into new, high‑performance solutions that support decarbonisation and circularity across mining operations.
The $40M K‑MIX project strengthens onshore manufacturing, creates local jobs, and furthers our commitment to all‑sustainable innovation as part of the Michelin Group. Visitors also experienced the stunning K‑MIX Reconciliation Mural — a 900m² celebration of Noongar culture and community connection.
We're delighted to announce that Fenner Conveyors has been named as a finalist in the 2026 RioTinto Supplier Recognition Awards in the Operational Excellence category.
This nomination, awarded for our innovative belt replacement procedures on a traditionally difficult port conveyor system, reflects our ongoing commitment to safety and ingenuity in all projects and shows the value in all the work our teams do to ensure our client's enjoy the best possible results.
