Shortlist Prix de Rome Architecture 2026 🏆
The international Prix de Rome jury has selected four entries for the shortlist of the Prix de Rome Architecture. The nominees are:
Maarten Plomp and Iris van der Wal (image 1)
Namelok – Wiegert Ambagts and Kaj van Boheemen (image 2)
Słodka x Zatta – Izabela Słodka and Federica Zatta (image 3)
Dérive – Hedwig van der Linden and Kevin Westerveld (image 4)
The nominees receive a budget to work on a follow-up assignment over a period of four months. They will work towards a spatial intervention for a site of their own choosing, further developing their problem definition and positioning in relation to the theme ‘Terminal Velocity’. Based on the outcomes of the working period, the jury will select a winner on 17 December 2026, who will receive a sum of € 60,000 and support for an international residency programme of their choice 🌍 The results will be on display from December at @nieuweinstituut in Rotterdam.

Coming up TOMORROW (!) is an experimental session with self-made instruments by sound artist Mári Mákó @mari_mako_ and spatial designer Iris van der Wal @fenderwall .
They are working on "Resonant artifact", a research where they are experimenting with resonance of objects in analogue ways.
For this rehearsal they will bring some prototypes to experiment with the acoustics. Mári will guide the session using experimental notations to improvise and resonate together.
The session is on the *16th of April from from 19.00 to 21.00 at Roodkapje*. To get inside you need to walk through a side door of Burgertrut, next door.
Please remember to bring: a snack to share! The session will be on donation basis as per usual.
