Building the cameras for a sports shoot 🎥 For this one I’m running a two-camera setup: Sony FX3 and FX30. The FX3 gets the 16–35mm GM. Wide angles work perfectly for sports. Getting close to the action, exaggerating movement, and capturing the atmosphere around it. On the FX30 I’ve gone with something a little different: an Iron Glass 38mm vintage prime. I’m also bringing a Helios with me. Those lenses add character you just don’t get from modern glass. Imperfections, swirl, personality. Both cameras are rigged with a Portkeys monitor. Shooting S-Log3 means I want to see exactly what’s happening on set. No guessing and fix it later. Lighting stays simple. Two Godox V100s. Small footprint. Big difference. Fast setup. Today’s experiment: vintage iron. MIR-1V + Helios-44M. Decades old, slightly unpredictable, and full of attitude. The kind of glass that bends light in ways modern lenses forgot. Swirl. Flare. Character. Imperfections that feel more like fingerprints.

What’s in the bag for a hybrid shoot? 🎥📸 At Fellow Fox, most projects need both photo and video. So the setup has to move fast. I run two bodies: Sony A7IV for stills. Sony FX3 for film. It means no compromise. No awkward switching mid-moment. Just capturing what’s happening as it unfolds. The 24–70mm GM is the backbone. If something unexpected happens, that lens handles it. The 16–35mm GM comes out when I want scale whether its interiors, movement or capturing atmosphere. The 85mm is there for the details and portraits. Clean. Compressed. Intentional. And the 24–240mm? The quiet workhorse when flexibility matters more than perfection. Lighting stays simple. Godox V100s. Small footprint, big difference. For video, the FX3 lives with the Portkeys monitor attached. Shooting S-Log3 means I want to see everything properly on set. Not guess and fix it later. All of it fits inside the Manfrotto PRO Light Backloader. Built to travel. Built to work. This isn’t a “look at my gear” setup. It’s a “be ready for anything” setup.
