We've teamed up with the awesome @feelsconnected & @darkmattermktg to present this exclusive preview of AMERICAN FICTION. This is Cord Jefferson's hilarious directorial debut based on the novel Erasure by Percival Everett. We LOVE a book-to-movie adaptation and this is a good'un. 🎬🍿🎞️📕
AMERICAN FICTION confronts our culture’s obsession with reducing people to outrageous stereotypes. Jeffrey Wright stars as Monk, a frustrated novelist who’s fed up with the establishment profiting from “Black” entertainment that relies on tired and offensive tropes. To prove his point, Monk uses a pen name to write an outlandish “Black” book of his own, a book that propels him to the heart of hypocrisy and the madness he claims to disdain.
Join us on Wednesday 31st January at @picturehousecentral at 6:30pm - after the screening, there will be time for a de-brief, we'll dive into an interactive discussion about the film's many themes such as cultural stereotypes, tired tropes and what is deemed "Black" entertainment.
