COLLABORATION TIME… When I first saw @tomskinwarr ’s work it blew my socks off… Nowadays it’s not easy standing out with the insane quality of barbering and hairdressing but Tom does, and then some… There’s raw power, raw talent in his cuts… He does haircuts that you love or hate and I feel extremely connected to those ethics… “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable” -Cesar A. Cruz- Like myself, Tom’s heavily inspired by subcultures and somehow all his cuts have that cool, alternative London vibe over them… I had the chance to attend one of his classes when he was in Austin, the first class I took in maybe 20 years, and I invited him on the spot to visit me in Rotterdam for a day of inspiration, sharing knowledge and of course photography… I invited some of my favorite models. Showed him some of my old dog’s tricks while I stole double as much of his’ and together with @jelleinmyear we created some images I simply can’t wait to show you… These days are SO IMPORTANT to me!! YESSSSSSS 🤘🤘 @fedeclaes got her signature FLATTOP WITH FENDERS back and I LOVE IT, it’s such an unique look on her, you recognize that silhouette from miles away, the definition of a truly iconic haircut… Whenever I post Fede’s flattie we always got two camps, you either love it or you hate it, not much room in between and that’s just perfect, another definition of good art, it provokes an opinion, it starts a conversation or maybe even discussion… GOOD!!! CHELSEA HAIRCUT!! When I moved to Rotterdam back in 1995-ish (my memory is a bit foggy when it comes to those days because of all the hard partying of which I do not regret even one second…) I was quickly sucked in to the local punk, psycho and skinhead scene which was AWESOME as it was more alive then ever… I used to cut SO MANY CHELSEA HAIRCUTS back in those days, all the skin girls rocked them and I was quite known in town to do a “proper one”. Bleached disconnected fringes and mullets and of course a two or three on top, one of the most outspoken, most stylish subcultural haircuts out there… I hadn’t done one in forever so when @fedeclaes showed me a photo I was over the moon, even though I had to hold in a little bit as Fede’s fine hair wouldn’t look good with a buzz so I went for a Chelsea inspired cut with a slightly longer and more connected top to make it a bit easier to wear… Although not on the “MENU posters” @schorembarbier , this haircut is so deeply embedded in Schorem culture that I hereby invite every skin girl to get theirs properly done in our shop… ♥️♥️ #ska #chelsea #chelseahaircut #skinhead #skin #skinheadgirl #rudeboy #rudegirl #twotoneska #spiritof69 #spiritof69skins #thewonderfulhorriblelifeofthebutcher
