Federica Giarè is an Italian photographer, born in Rome, who has recently graduated from the MFA Photography at the University for the Creative Arts, and is currently residing in the UK. She works with digital and analogue
photography to create documentary style portraiture; and uses the zine format as a versatile vehicle to share her work beyond the gallery work and to the communities she is working with. Her themes revolve around ideas of gender, sexual and cultural identity, with a focus on the queer community, that she is also a part of. Her work is strongly based of transfeminist political views.

Queer, Butch, Dyke, and All the Above explores the experiences of lesbian and sapphic people. The photographs are accompanied by text, handwritten by Giarè, transcribed from conversations during the portrait sessions. This work is dedicated to the lesbian and sapphic community, to all our sisters and siblings, to the trans women, the butches, and everyone who identifies as part of it. To those who have fought for us in the past, everywhere in the world, protesting for our right to exist and thrive; to those who stillfight now, in any way they can, everywhere in the world, because the fight for queer rights is not over, anywhere.

Small recap of our group exhibition @nailtonailuca2025 at The Crypt Gallery. First time ever exhibiting my work, and it was in London!!! (damn) It was definitely a stressful and tiring experience, but also fun. So glad for the opportunity and for all the people who came to see it.
Can't wait to be able to exhibit more works from my final project, and to give more visibility to queer and lesbian art.
