#This giant baobab tree at the Feather Leaf Inn is deeply rooted and full of stories carried across the ocean centuries ago. Known as the Tree of Life, the Baobab is believed to have arrived from Africa at the same time the colonialists were transporting enslaved people to the Caribbean. This tree, a witness tree, is listed with the Black Heritage Tree Project and has been named in honor of Moses Robert, an enslaved person that was a leader in the emancipation movement of 1748. Long before this place became a sanctuary for rest and connection, Butler Bay was a sugar plantation in the 1700s. Through changing times, crashing waves, and generations of lives passing beneath its branches, this majestic tree remained. Quietly witnessing history. Quietly holding memory.
