The Lox Benny was the perfect cozy brunch moment 🍳✨
Loaded with poached eggs, rich homemade hollandaise, carrot lox, fresh tomato, and crunchy tofu bacon on a freshly baked English muffin 🤌💛
We paired it with a hojicha latte and matcha latte for the ultimate café combo ☕🍵
And yes… we had to grab the sweets too 😌
The chocolate chip cookie was soft and gooey, while the cinnamon bun was warm, fluffy, and packed with cinnamon goodness ✨
Loved the calm atmosphere, friendly vibes, and all the fresh baked treats at this cozy community café 💛

Let’s Talk Women of Colour held a coffee chat titled “Desire or Dehumanization” to discuss where tropes that frame certain racial groups as more agressive, and sexual come from, and the cognitive biases that reinforce these stereotypes. In a group of 13 powerful women, we intimately discussed ways we see these tropes show up in our life, on social media, and how awareness and speaking up is the best way to dismantle these tropes. Not only was this event educational, but countless new friendships and connections were created. Personal stories were shared amongst strangers who cared to listen and offer their support and advise. Young women of colour had the chance to voice their concerns and opinions without judgement. Spaces like these are crucial in empowering young people to learn about the world around them whilst feeling like their voice has power. Thank you Feast and Fallow Cafe for kindly hosting us with incredible drinks and treats! We can’t wait for the next coffee chat!
Here are 3 family-friendly cafés in Vancouver that every parent should know:
• Olivier’s La Boulangerie (Fraser Street): Super spacious café with lots of pastries, breads, and sandwiches. There’s a small corner with books, toys, and a toddler table, which makes it easy to keep the kids busy while you sit down with a coffee.
• To Live For Bakery: the most popular vegan spot in town. There’s a kids’ table and a cake window where you can watch the bakers work (my kid could stay there forever). It’s a bit tight inside, so it’s easier to leave the stroller outside, but they do have a good amount of outdoor seating.
• Feast & Fallow: Another plant-based café with a strong community feel. It’s a relaxed, welcoming space with plenty of families around. They have baked goods, weekend brunch, high chairs, and even a whole kids’ playroom in the back, which makes a big difference when you want to stay a bit longer. Just note that the playroom is out of sight but you can bring your coffee there.

Join us for our upcoming coffee chat: Desire or Dehumanization? This is a cafe gathering for 12 young women (13-21) to explore how biases fuel the over sexualization of communities of colour, reinforcing stereotypes, discrimination, and impacting the wellbeing of BIPOC people. Let’s discuss how historical and social media tropes shape these views, and challenge them through open dialogue.
