Drawing inspiration from local ecology, the design integrates seamlessly into its context to reflect the shifting skies and damp earth of the Pacific Northwest. The residence occupies the middle ground between enclosure and transparency, framing the landscape while remaining, first and foremost, a family home.

Light is treated as a primary material. It is drawn deep into the plan, sliding across surfaces and filters through voids to the lower floor. Morning light grazes garden rooms, noon glints across pools, evening settles in the cloistered courtyard. The house records the hours, its walls quietly marking the passage or day.

Water anchors the architecture. Reflective pools encircle and fragment the residence, softening its mass and bringing the sky to the ground. Moving through the home is to move along the water’s edge, accompanied always by shimmer and sound.

The house is conceived as a dual condition: reticent to the street, open to the garden. To the street, it appears as a measured brick volume; solid, almost mute, relieved only by a subtle fold in its facade that hints at entry. Beyond, the house dissolves into transparency and reflection, its surfaces animated by glass, water, and light.
