⚡️The Protest Room- created in my house as part of my Love Activism Project.⚡️ I have fallen deeply in love with art all over again, over the last few weeks. I had become disenchanted at the commodification of it all- art as a culture industry, thirsty to constrain and retrain creativity in order to generate money (rarely for the artist.) And lately it has been dialled right back, in my life, to art being a contribution or public service of some kind. I really see that we need art in this life and I had lost the faith in that, when I couldn't keep up with creating a 'brand', a niche, a style...when I couldn't keep up with creating engaging social media content to 'get my name out there' and get the 'Likes', when I am just no good at writing applications for funding, no good at reaching deadlines for entering competitions, no good at creating a living selling my work...snatching time to make it while trying to make a living elsewhere. I want people that love my art to have it on their walls so (and there will be posts to follow with more info) I am going to offer out works of art of mine to people to have on their walls through these insane times. I want to reinstate art into the lives of people who cant afford it: art as medicine, to bring love, thought, joy and conversation into homes and lives. It will begin locally as shipping costs are prohibitive at the mo and it will involve involve signing a contract promising to care for it or pay for it (think of those signs in shops where 'you break it, you pay for it!") A huge part of my art/ soul/ life practice involves writing. Sometimes journaling, sometimes planning, sometimes channeling (for that’s what it feels like when the words tumble out sometimes). I revisit journals, sketchbooks and notebooks regularly to make sense of things and to create. Today has seen me honing my Inspiration Clinics (varying one to one sessions I am offering from my Studio Soul Space), writing a wedding for some tremendous friends in my role as Celebrant and creating tonight’s Life Drawing class I am teaching at Newlyn School of Art. The Soul Space within my studio has found another incarnation and this is it ..⚡️⚡️ It is my interactions with people that leave both me and them feeling more inspired, at peace and within joy. It’s clear that I am within the flow and doing what I am meant to be doing. 💛💛 A big part of my art practice has always been about connection and collaboration, creating spaces of reflection and places of conversations that matter. In an extension of those concerns, I’ve developed a space where creative processes are used, to have conversations that can suggest another way of doing things, other possibilities, strategies and ways of looking at situations, obstacles and blockages: a loving space where new approaches can be bought to old concerns. The one to one Inspiration Clinics that I offer can be used as a means to reinvigorate a situation, to address a sense of stagnation, to check in with your soul’s health.
