The spring has been hiding behind the last bits of our forever-winter, but the tulips and yarrow and seedlings of the new plants I sowed last fall tell me it’s here nonetheless 💛🌼🌸.

It’s likely I haven’t worn a babydoll dress and ballet flats since 2007 when I was still probably using T9 and being careful about my texts because my plan only covered 50 free ones per month 😎. But I can’t be mad at the update 💖.
My dress is another @julesmsmit #philotop with the bodice shortened and a gathered skirt attached - the fabric is a lovely tencel I’ve been hanging on to from @blackbirdfabrics .
On my head is a cute #bigfuzzhat by @thegoodmurph , made from colourful boiled wool 🥰.

Made a #philotop by @julesmsmit in black linen this weekend (straight size 6 but cropped a little more)! It’s honestly a dream top, I love a beautiful basic.
My skirt is self-drafted and fully quilted in the cutest patterned cotton that I got ages ago from @merchantandmills .
Oh! And my 12 year old told me I looked like Beverly Marsh with my new hair and that’s probably my favourite reference ever. Happy Sunday, folks.

*Clean finishes (right now a mix of French seams, flat felled seams, and bias binding are working beautifully after the initial period of impatient practice)

Working on a handmade wardrobe towards the end of this year has meant taking the time to practice clean finishes and focus on garments that I want to wear all the time 💛.
Top is a Kwik Sew button-up pattern from the late 80’s/early 90’s that I found at the thrift store, modified a little and made with @corefabrics organic cotton substantial broadcloth. I call it the Susan shirt because that’s who it was cut and labeled for out of the package and I think that’s sweet and perfect.
Bottoms are cute cute @sewliberated Arthur Pants, with a little bit of a modified shape made also in 👆🏻organic cotton broadcloth.
Both patterns will be repeated several times because I love em 🫶🏼.

Saturday dress up including the sweetest patchy @jessilous_closet #jillwrapskirt 🥲, a brand new make using leftover bull denim (& some corduroy) scraps from my stash. I love how it wound up pretty structured - the shape is so cute - and this could easily be made again in regular denim for something more neutral.
Lined with repurposed fabric from a glider cover I made when I was pregnant with my littlest 💞.
Top is consignment from @frontandcompany in Van & seems to also be handmade!

The #bfcarriecrop by @bfpatterns is a fantastic, simple sew & I made 5 of them in my spare minutes over the last couple of weeks 😄.
I sewed size small with no mods except using the neck band method with the height of the neck binding piece (because I love a thick collar).
Pleated jeans are vintage from @oddfindsgeneral & cotton floral #swshenrietta skirt by @spaghetti_western_sewing is made by me as well 🫶🏼.
