FH turns 7 today.
For some reason I am more reflective on FH’s anniversary than on my own birthday. Most likely because this business is something I truly do for myself. Designing and creating is such an integral part of my identity and brings me so much joy.
I’m currently taking a year long maternity leave to focus on my mental health and raising two babies. Two years ago when I gave birth to my first son, I only took a month leave, which in hind sight was very unhealthy. As a business owner, I felt responsible to my clients and their projects. While postpartum depression may look different for everyone, for me I was throwing myself into work which only exacerbated the issue and left me struggling to connect with who I was as a mother, a partner and an individual. Because of that, I was lacking creative drive and work no longer brought me the joy it once had.
I don’t have a nice bow to wrap this story up with because the story is not over, we’re just turning to a new and blank page. The departure from creating for work has been rewarding. That creative spark is returning and I’m so excited for the next chapter and to share with you here what it becomes. 🎂
Spring cleaning! ✨ Upgraded all of the handles and doorknobs in our apartment today. I’ll take any excuse to go to the hardware store tbh. ✨
