Rainy walk thoughts: the recent story of 420,000 peach trees being REMOVED in California. The removal of the trees is an outcome, not a causal factor in this food going to waste. Unfortunately, this instance is not unique; we recently returned from a trip across several states, visiting a variety of crops which are facing the exact same risk due to the larger consumption pattern dips on canned foods or canned products.
Farmlink exists to move any and all fresh food that’s about to go to waste, whenever and however we can. But we also exist to attack the root causes of food waste, and that requires asking the hard questions around consumer demands, shifting markets, and dwindling options for farmers.
Follow along as we work to make situations like this a rarity, not a reality.
You might not always see them, but our Food Search and Rescue team is out there, day in, day out, relentlessly, unwaveringly, tirelessly on the hunt for fresh food in need of rescue.
These professionals won’t rest until every last spud finds a home. Fearless. Resilient. Always in the background, working, rescuing, searching, and reaching food that needs them most.

Every year, food waste emits massive amounts of greenhouse gases. By rescuing food before it goes to a landfill, we can stop these harmful emissions from being released into the atmosphere, feeding people while healing the planet.
