Next Friday, 8 May at 19:00, we invite you to What’s the Tea? #7 at VBKÖ, featuring our first guest of the year: Ford Kelly aka BLAQALIEN @fordkellydreamscapes / @soyfordkelly What’s the Tea? — conceived by Faris Cucchi @fariscucu , Mzamo Nondlwana @jama_supreme and Pêdra Costa @pedraxcosta — is a Trans* and Queer-centered storytelling series that creates space for truth-sharing, creative exchange, and community building. This edition spotlights the visionary practice of Ford Kelly aka BLAQALIEN, an Afrofuturist artist, dreamer, creator, and community organizer based in Berlin. Through their multidisciplinary work, BLAQALIEN conjures expansive imaginaries of Blackness beyond imposed limits, opening portals where joy, play, rage, rest, and curiosity become radical tools for repair, liberation, and collective transformation. As a gender dissident, their artistic universe transforms dreamscapes into political territory, spaces where Black futurity is not only envisioned, but actively lived, defended, and celebrated. From the acclaimed “Afrofuturist Coloring Book” series to “Yeye Finds Magic All Around”, a children’s story rooted in magic and possibility, BLAQALIEN invites us to imagine Blackness as an infinite vessel for memory, resistance, and worlds yet to come. Join us to listen, connect, and stand in solidarity. Free entrance. Accessibility note: the venue has elevator access, but is not fully wheelchair accessible. 🌈 See you at VBKÖ. #viennaartscene #queer #afrofuturism

“Safe to Be, Safe to Love” encourages us to think about what safety means in our lives today — in our identities, our relationships, and our communities. Visibility was never a neutral act. For queer Africans and especially for lesbians, being seen has too often meant being summoned. Judged. Punished. Visibility turned into a trial, a demand to prove our existence to a world that uses our openness against us. So we're asking a different question: Who is this visibility actually for? Join us this Friday, March 27th for another Sheeko Sheeko Live, our 1st episode of an ongoing series about ‘Queer Pan-Afrikan Solidarity’. We will be joined by our special guests @fariscucu and androgeniusalpha_, who are both incredible advocates, artists, and organizers. As we face increasing anti-gay legislation being implemented across the continent, we must strengthen and forge new connections with other Black queer people and collectives. It is no surprise that these homophobic laws are being funded by imperialist white supremacist Christians, who are deeply anti-Black. How can we create opportunities for learning, solidarity and collaboration? We have been here from the beginning, and we will continue to be here and thrive when these oppressive systems collapse. We will be simultaneously streaming from our Twitch channel for folks not on Instagram, "https://twitch.tv/warbixintacidda". Sheeko Sheeko - IG Live Date: 3/27 Timezones 10am PST 12pm CST 1pm EST 2pm Salvador 5pm Senegal/UK 6pm EU 8pm East Africa
