around this time 8 years ago i was in dakar doing the raw academy residency, about to celebrate my 25th birthday. i thought it was so serendipitous that i would be in senegal turning 25, a perfect meeting place for all my friends from the different stages and places in my life (lagos/london/america). i also realised that post 25 it’s kind of hard to get all the people you love in one place without a wedding 😅 now we’re about to witness/celebrate koyo’s biennale. so much has changed since that year. life can be so bittersweet. but there will always be scope for celebration, and i take that very seriously. what a blessing it is to be alive and here! venice see you soon 🥹
Faridah of @alaralagos shows us their craft.
Conceived by renowned culture mogul Reni Folawiyo, for over a decade, Alara — alongside @nokbyalara — has become a nexus for African art, fashion, and culture in Lagos.
The space reads like a retail cathedral
A tall, light-filled volume, with platforms, that rise through the space to a rooftop terrace, each one revealing a different layer of fashion, objects, and art.
The space has become a perfect meeting point of international and local creativity. And the Nok restaurant and Garden transition that into a more interactive culinary and social space.
@alaralagos Open to explore and shop
