💚 I used to think being “a good person” meant always being available. Turns out… it also made me a business owner with no boundaries. I was overdelivering, overextending, and saying yes to things that weren’t aligned Grief changed my capacity. 💫 Leadership required me to honor it 💫 Because the truth is this is a business built on people. And if I don’t protect my time, my energy, and my STANDARDS … I can’t show up well for the people who ACTUALLY VALUE what I do. 💖 I still lead with love, integrity, and care. I just don’t abandon myself, or my business, to prove it anymore. Not everyone deserves access. Not everything is aligned. 👋🏽💙Hi I’m Franchesca Vargas, but everyone calls me Fancy A Creative Founder and Cultural Architect located here, in the beautiful PNW. I design arts-led experiences and cultural platforms that help cities, institutions, and communities drive economic impact, strengthen public engagement, and create more equitable access to the arts. But the simplest way to say it is, I build what I know communities actually need. Over the past few years, that work has grown into a connected ecosystem: ✨ELEVATE → arts-driven events & cultural activations that bring people together and activate spaces ✨CULTIVATE → a platform creating paid opportunities and visibility for artists ✨Black Love Market → a marketplace supporting Black-owned businesses through culture and commerce ✨PRISM → a creative wellness initiative centered on healing, care, and community Different entry points. Same intention. This didn’t come from theory. It came from lived experience. I’m a first-generation daughter of immigrants, a mother of four, and someone who has known what it feels like to move through life without access, without support, & without community. So I built it. And in a lot of ways, this work has been about turning pain into purpose and realizing that being in service to community is healing in itself. Along the way, I’ve been honored in ways I don’t take lightly. Including multiple city proclamations recognizing this work, being named to 425 Magazine’s 40 Under 40, Front-page, above-the-fold Business section feature in Renton Reporter and receiving an Elevating Equity & Justice Award. But the real impact has always been the people. ✨ The artists paid. ✨ The spaces filled. ✨ The connections made. I understand that I’m in a position of leadership now. And I hold that with a lot of responsibility and a lot of gratitude. Because none of this exists without community. If you’ve ever been part of something we’ve created thank you. 🏌🏽‍♀️Spent the day supporting another community organizer, accidentally networking my way into a new business opportunity, …… and learning that golf is really just expensive humility 🤣😭⛳️ But truly… this season of my life has me thinking differently about proximity, alignment, and intention 💛 I’ve been trying to move with more purpose about where I spend my time, who I’m building with, and the environments I place myself in. And it’s been interesting to watch how quickly opportunities open when the energy is aligned. Sometimes ROI isn’t immediate money. Sometimes it’s access. Sometimes it’s relationships. Sometimes it’s being in the room before the room realizes they need you there. 🤍 Growing Up #firstgeneration , we didn’t have much, & one thing my mom always told us is “Just because you’re poor doesn’t mean you have to dress like it or act like it.” Not in a “impress people” way but in a “respect yourself enough to care how you show up” way. That stuck. So now? I dress the way I want to be addressed. Even while I’m still building. People assume I have money because of how I dress… and I get it. But truthfully? I’m a mom of four building businesses from scratch, and a lot of my closet came from the clearance rack. One thing I do invest in is understanding what works. Olive + cream / bone / off-white,something about this combo just reads elevated. Effortless. Intentional. Expensive without trying too hard. Style isn’t about how much you spend. 🌸 Some spaces don’t need to be completely transformed… they just need to be understood. 🌸 When I stepped into this Japanese teahouse, it already had a language of its own, soft, intentional, sacred. My job as a creative isn’t to overpower that.
