voivod is a band where you either love or hate them they definitely are an out their band and I imagine they pride themselves on being odd to say the least. Lets start the review the gold star went to the title track but it was a toss up between that ravenous medicine, and Forgotten In Space. So lets now talk musicians first up we have Michael Langevin(away) and his killer drum skills, truly underrated player. With his progressive complex fills making voivod a standout band among thrash metal. Next we have Jean-Yves Thériault (Blacky) on his bass guitar now while its buried its occasionally heard in the mix and i must say not too shabby, it’s probably better heard live. Next we have Denis Bélanger(Snake) on lead vocals, this is most people’s problem with voivod, people hate snakes vocals too me he sounds like any punk singer just with a tad more range and much more versatility. I love the sound sometimes he shouts sometimes its calm and sometimes its a slight high note, either way the vocals on this album kick ass. Last but not least we have the man that is no doubt the entire highlight of this record we have Mr Denis D'Amour (Piggy) on all guitars, he was something special his weird pacing and time signatures made his riffs seem insanely difficult even when they weren’t, the tone has a certain twang to it but it adds charm and fits the Sci-FYI theme of the album. His solos are all cool bug man those voivod riffs are irreplaceable if you try to write voivod inspired riffs you just will sound like a cheap knock off, Piggy did something special no one else could do I believe, Even when piggy played more standard riffs they had more balls cause it was unusual, a great example of this is on the song this is not an exercise. RIP Piggy, Gone but never forgotten.
In conclusion I will give the progressive thrash metal masterpiece Killing Technology by Voivod a 9.5/10
