Hey False Starts is going to provide live music to @john_vasquez_mejias new costume puppet show @the_p.i.t._ 7pm $15 suggested. Come out!

I had the pleasure of catching this band, False Starts, perform at P.I.T. Records and Books recently in Brooklyn. The show was great, like a raw, quaint rebellion taking place with distortion and growls amongst a small group of familiar faces… it reminded me of how it felt to be a teenager. In fact, a portion of the crowd have been friends of mine since I was a teenager. It was so much fun catching up with old friends! Always feels good to be with like-minded homies that I love spending time with, and mostly chatting about music, books, and a wide array of art forms. I still get as excited as a did when I was 16, when discovering a new band, artist, or author. Any time someone comes at me with a “Have you heard of this…”; “There’s this new band (artist) that you gotta check out from..”; or “What’ve you been getting into lately?” … I light up like a kid on Christmas morning, anticipating the awesomeness that is coming my way! 🎶🤗🎶 One of the greatest discoveries for me at this show: John Vasquez Mejias (lead singer of False Starts) has had a book published, The Puerto Rican War. Mejias’ book is a work of art, which showcases his talent for woodwork. Yeah, each “page” is actually photographs of the meticulously carved wood blocks, telling the story, in fable form, of the Puerto Rican Independence movement. I highly recommend getting yourself a copy. @false.starts
