@BAVCPreserve on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 5:00pm PST / 8:00pm EST, as they follow the story of early video collectives The People’s Video Theatre and Survival Arts Media through their archive of preserved analog video. Some of this material was used in the new documentary,
@CripCampFilm , while some of it hasn’t been seen by the public in over 40 years. After the screening, there will be a Q&A with former members of the collectives, Howard Gutstadt and Ben Levine and NYU archivist Kelly Haydon.
Gain new context for the importance of archival footage, understand some of the history of early video, with emphasis on community impact, and watch some remarkable material from the archives! Follow this link in our bio to RSVP.
From their roots as video activists to their mind-expanding experiments with video art and early immersive media performances, the story of PVT and SAM is the story of early video’s growth into its own distinct form of expression and storytelling.
The entire stream will be recorded for future viewing but you'll only be able to participate in the Q+A if you join us live!
