The Sheep Detectives: A film in which sheep solve a murder using knowledge absorbed from bedtime stories, despite the fact that their primary hobby is eating dandelions for better wool. these are not animals who have their priorities straight. and yet they crack the case before any human does, AND somehow deliver the most emotionally intelligent meditation on grief and loss i have seen in years. i cannot explain this. the dandelions clearly did something to their brains. “i’m getting my life together after this.” #Thesheepdetectives
“Devil wears prada 2” starts of with a Pr crises, imagine what more can one do to hook me into a movie? Then it cascades into power, fashion glorious fashion btw, old school romance, New York Italy you name it. Meryl Streep is as sassy as it gets albeit a few quiet moments she’s a masterclass again as Miranda priestly rocking a Pakistani designers bag @warponline (India can eat their heart out) . Anne Hathaway is no less then a dream in her role as the earnest do gooder, and then we have Nigel the alter ego of fashion played by Stanley tucci…Offcourse Donatella Versace and lady gaga are in there too.. why not it’s got all the glam in the word anyways but…but it doesn’t hit like the first one. Sequels often don’t but this is more about the evolution of print to digital and what our world has now become and one can’t help but feel a little sad for it. Even though I’m actually an exponent of this transition but i feel like they crammed too many plots in this one and that kinda reduced the kick for me, not enough to miss it it’s a great movie just not as iconic as the first one! Definitely should be watched atleast 3 times as it has that many Easter eggs in it to discover 7/10 for me “That’s all”
There are a few moments burnt in the mind of us folks born In the 70s. First sky lab falling in 79 bringing us to the realisation that man hasn’t conquered the stars yet and then a young pop music star released Billy Jean in 1983 and that pause…that pause on his stage and rest assured it was just his stage, which followed by the moonwalk just changed the world. There were many moments after that with the worlds first super viral zombie video “thriller” and the pool hall slum gangster chic of “beat it” where the crips and the bloods danced to one beat to “smooth criminal“ and on and on as Michael Jackson defied gravity… super stardom.. united us all and made us dance. This movie is like a time capsule for someone like me to relive a bit of what it was like without the theatrics and the immersive shows which dominate our lives today. Where the music was so real and so good that you just could not help but move. What this movie also shows you is a glimpse into the simply off kilter uniqueness of this man’s process his child like nuances, his capability to create utter magic, the genius of the marketing behind the gloved hand and the sadness in his love ballads which always reflected a Peter Pan without his Wendy. Michael is a movie that cannot be missed should be danced to and watched over and over if you want to actually feel properly alive. What a movie 9/10 for me! 😎 #michael
