As part of our One Book, One Buncombe exploration of "Happy Land" by Dolen Perkins-Valdez, we gathered yesterday for a beautiful Flower Crown Workshop with Flying Cloud Farm. Flower farming and arranging are woven throughout the story, making this a perfect hands-on way to connect with the book.
A huge thank you to Annie Louise for leading the workshop and bringing all the fresh florals and creative energy. And thank you to everyone who came to create, shine, and bloom together ✨

We celebrated World Collage Day this past Saturday with a drop-in collage workshop at the library! Participants pasted with purpose, and pieced together some truly lovely creations. ✂️✨ Thanks to everyone who joined us and to the organizers who helped make it all come together!
Join us this Thursday for a powerful and deeply human program exploring how we approach the end of life.
At 12 PM, we’ll screen The Last Ecstatic Days, a moving documentary that follows Ethan Sisser, a young man facing terminal brain cancer, as he invites the world into his final days. What unfolds in our Blue Ridge Mountains is an extraordinary story of courage, community, and what it means to die with dignity and without fear.
Following the film, stay for a meaningful conversation with local advocates Aditi Sethi and Trish Rux. Together, we’ll explore how hospice care, death doulas, and community support are reshaping end-of-life experiences, emotionally, spiritually, and practically.
This program is for adults and offers space for reflection, learning, and connection around a topic we don’t often talk about but all share.
Thursday, April 30th at 12pm at Fairview Public Library.
