Musical Crystal Cave is my latest interactive artwork. Participants interact with a pair of glowing selenite rods which let them "DJ" the artwork. Each selenite rod provides continuous linear control of an abstract parameter for the generative music and lights, broadly split between rhythm and melody.
The music is generated in realtime using VCV Rack and the lights driven by TouchDesigner. The melody is parametrically generated and mutated over time so no participants will hear the same thing twice.
This work was in collaboration with my partner Faetea who created the crystal flowers. This piece has so far been exhibited at NECTR and Figment Boston.
