The initial idea for Residue of Behavior was seeded in July 2025. Developed in conversation with RG Gabunada and Jason Montinola of Faculty Projects, the exhibition began as an inquiry into the notions of home and shelter within a contemporary art context. Because Faculty Projects encourages discourse, exploration, and collaboration, I felt the definition of "home" should expand beyond mere habitation. Home—a word heavily charged with emotional and psychological significance—is framed here as a space that manifests in physical objects, architectural environments, and lens-based imagery. The exhibition draws inspiration from artist Sarah Sze, who noted in an interview: “...what’s so interesting with any contemporary art [is] when you can see in an object the residue of behavior.” The works in this show examine what remains: habits embedded in objects, memory inscribed in architecture, and the quiet actions that shape a sense of belonging. As visual artists, we recognize a reciprocal relationship in our practice. As we imprint our ways of seeing and making onto the objects we craft, the images we capture, and the spaces we inhabit, we do not only create form—we are, in turn, transformed by the very materials and environments we manipulate. The notion of residue is then deposited in two ways: the tangible human imprint left on the physical, and the persistent memory of the objects and spaces that embody our notions of home. @format.ph @facultyprojects #residueofbehavior

FORMAT is a Filipino creative platform that brings artists and communities together through creation, curation, and shared cultural experiences. Rather than operating as a traditional gallery or institution, FORMAT exists as a mobile cultural platform that produces exhibitions, collaborations, and creative gatherings wherever artists and audiences can meet. FORMAT supports the making of new work, provides context through thoughtful curation, and builds communities around contemporary Filipino creativity. It is not tied to a permanent venue. It moves with the energy of artists, ideas, and communities. FORMAT exists wherever creativity finds its audience.
