MIDI Glove ideation & prototype progress Challenge: As a DJ and musician, I wanted to create a wearable that would make live performances more interactive. I was inspired by Imogen Heap’s MIDI Glove, but wanted to create a cheaper, open-source alternative that anyone with access to a FabLab could assemble for under $50. Approach: The glove has three types of inputs: binary (see 2), variable (see 3), and directional (see 4), each linked to a different sensor. These can be combined for hundreds of customizable applications. For example, covering the LDR sensor can trigger a note playing, but covering sensors 1-2 in unison – or making a fist and covering all sensors – can be mapped to unique commands. Next steps: assemble the next version of the prototype with the new board and make it actually look nice! Knit or sew an enclosure for the PCB. Mill the PCB again but remember to invert the image so I don't have to solder the microchip to the back, which makes it pretty bulky. Applications: I have left extra pins on the PCB board for future modifications. The inputs could be used for a lot more than MIDI - VR gloves, an assistive technology for people struggling with motor skills, or any kind of data-collecting wearable tech.

the mirror broke on accident, I dropped it in a panic. 7 years of bad luck (said the Romans). thank God the soul is renewed every 7 years. self falling and cracking : to be seen and unknown the gaze does not belong to the one who looks. the gaze belongs to the field itself (to the room, to the history of the room, to every mirror that was ever hung at that height for that purpose). you did not choose to appear. you were placed into appearing. you were given-to-be-seen before you learned the word for given, before you learned the word for seen. art for the @geographer Club Eden launch…featured in DJ Mag & Resident Advisor 📰 !! Club Eden, Geograph’s music program, curates seasonal mix series featuring the underground’s best selectors, imagining the dance floor as a revolutionary space and reminding us that Heaven is Earth. The debut mix series, 1992, takes its title from M.I.A.’s XR2: “Where were you in ‘92?” and invites four young Brazilian selectors to reflect on Brazil’s cultural & ecological future. 🍃 I got to work very closely with @russellhreed on the visual identity for this project. I made a digital collage of a forest fire to represent the changing hues of climate disaster. We ended up with a rich color palette that paid tribute to Brazil’s ecological diversity will also denoting a sense of urgency. I printed the images on fabric and did all the collaging by hand before scanning. I love working with analogue materials and I’m very happy with materiality of the canvas textures. 🪡 featuring @rhrmusiq @slimsoledad @casshu__ @clublyzza 🗺️ listen at geographer.world 🗺️
