I’ve learned to pay attention when a single word stays with me. The word ‘radiance’ found me about two years ago. Through self-reflection, I realized most of my ideas stem from one word, so I’ve come to trust those moments. I believe that’s God way of pointing toward something worth exploring. I spent the last year and a half developing this series. It holds deep meaning for me and for the people who have graciously agreed to participate in this conversation of what it means to be radiant in a world that constantly wants us to dim ourselves. Today, I’m proud to formally introduce my ongoing visual series “Radiance: Emitting Our Inner Light to the World” This is more than portraiture. Each image is an intimate dialogue — a study of what happens when someone chooses to release their inner light. Now more than ever, I believe our inner light is one of the most powerful tools we have for rebuilding community and reclaiming ourselves. To everyone who showed up — on set, behind the scenes, and in the most vulnerable moments of this process — thank you. LOGO DESIGN ✨ I drew the first iteration of the @facecardactivated logo in May 2024. My biggest challenge was creating a monogram with the letters ‘F’ ‘C and ‘A’ that was still legible for viewers. My second challenge was capturing my personal aesthetic into a design that I wouldn’t get tired of. A few months into the logo development, I lost my Adobe file which threw me for a loop. To be honest, the first couple of rounds didn’t feel like me, so I took it as a sign that I needed to pivot. After exploring the art & design section in bookstores and immersing myself in Japanese calligraphy and gothic typography, I designed the final product that 100% fits my branding and personal taste. Don’t you hate when your idea doesn’t turn out the way you envisioned? My goal this weekend was to create two looks; one more fun and colorful and the other a bit more simplistic. Did I create two looks? Yes! Did I like both looks? Yes! Did the photos come out they way I hoped for both? Nope! 🫠🫠 I’m working through my perfectionism and trying not to get caught up in the details that honestly I only truly care about. I took over 400 photos Saturday and couldn’t find any I truly liked. From equipment failures to messing up my makeup on a few tries, I really was about to stop and go lay down, BUT I pressed on and thankfully I got something out of it. Life turned upside down for me 5 months ago, which affected me creatively. I decided to show myself some grace by giving myself permission to take a short break to focus on my family. In all honesty, I felt guilty for not working on my brand, but I knew that was an emotion that didn’t serve me well given the circumstances. My brain needed the rest and the time I took to reset was crucial. Listen to your body. Don’t just push through when you know you don’t have the capacity. Take the time to regroup so you can come back stronger. I’m grateful for the break. It brought me back to myself. It gave me clarity. The time away wasn’t in vein. And while I took a break on the creative side of my business, I put in the work and focused on the invisible side of building a business. The side no one sees, the side that isn’t as fun, but crucial in developing a solid foundation.
