We had a great time at @rethinktherunway last week as part of SF’s Climate Awareness Week. So great to see so many people interested in learning about fashion and textiles and ways to keep these items out of the landfills.

It's #EarthWeek Join us for a Sustainable Textile Workshop Paper to Pattern with Mira Musank Wednesday, May 6th, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. in #SoFa at the San Jose Museum of Quilts and Textiles. Free RSVP /m5dltvo4 Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring creative approaches to sustainable textile design led by artist and designer Mira Musank. Participants will learn how simple paper materials can serve as a starting point for garment and textile construction while engaging with ideas of waste reduction, craft, and sustainable making. No prior experience is required. This is a free event, but space is limited, and advance registration is recommended. This workshop is part of the San José Climate Art Program, an initiative connecting artists, cultural organizations, and communities through creative responses to climate action. Paper to Pattern is organized in collaboration with Mira Musank, FabMo, and the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles. Mira Musank (she/her) is an interdisciplinary textile upcycling artist who transforms discarded textiles and second-hand clothes into custom garments. She focuses on the intersection of slow-fashion practices, sustainability solutions, and climate activism throughout her learning journey. Circularity as a counteract of overconsumption and waste is central in both her artistic expression and her community engagement.

Back by popular demand–another great weaving class with Vicki! Grab a friend and celebrate Galentine’s Weekend with this engaging and fun workshop. You’ll learn techniques for the weaving, knotting, wrapping, tying, sewing, coiling and twisting of fiber materials–and explore making fringe, tassels and pompoms to add additional texture and delight. The base for this project is plastic fencing, which opens up creative possibilities far beyond simply weaving. The finished product will be a dynamic and stunning art piece suitable for hanging on the wall. All levels are welcome. No art or weaving experience is necessary. Adults only please. $95 covers four full hours of mixed-media textile creativity, including all materials. This class is taught by Vicki Assegued, an experienced instructor who leads fiber workshops across the U.S. Space is limited. Register online now at /workshops-list/p/7sji1zu7e0bqf97g6fvyxodb009kp9
