In the Frame x In the Best Light
We had the BEST time at our very first ‘In the Best Light’ peer review sessions last week. We were blown away by the incredible work shared by Chantel King, Angeles Rodenas, Marina Tsaregorodtseva, and Tara Hay, and so happy that so many others came to share their insight and encouragement.
From mind-blowing processes, and stunning concepts, to the celebration of the beauty of humanity, it was a real feast of exciting work. Huge thanks to everyone who came along and contributed to a great night. We can’t wait to do it again - watch this space!!

Did you know Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp was the largest female-led protest since Suffrage, and led to the international ban on cruise nuclear missiles?
A new documentary film 'Gentle Angry Women' follows three young activists as they embark on a nine day protest march from Cardiff to the Common, discovering this lost chapter in women's history.
I documented the recent 110 mile march - where original Greenham Women walking alongside, and sharing inspiring and sometimes terrifying stories of their time spent at camp, with this new generation of impassioned activists, their mutual aim to highlight the urgent crises of the climate emergency , nuclear weapons escalation , daily violence against women, extreme hunger, and social inequality.
If you look closely you can spot me in the film. Also some of my early stills photography is featured from when I documented at Greenham Common as a young photography student.
Tickets available via @folklifefilms
Many performances include a panel talk hosted by the film director @barbarasanti

We had a fantastic time at our last f22 forum meeting, all about getting noticed by commissioners, and we were treated to an abundance of gorgeous work! For this month’s In The Frame segment, we heard from the newest member of our working group, Michelle Qian Li, learning about her extraordinary journey from the world of commercial advertising to photography.
Deeply conceptual in her approach, Michelle brings together both minimalism and theatricality in a fresh way to challenge mindsets and behaviours. Her work often explores contrasting themes such as sustainability and consumerism, organic and inorganic, and beauty and decay. We’re so excited to see what Michelle creates next!
1. 2.5+2+1+6=11.5£, Winton - from the series, ‘Uncanny Fashion’ which “challenges brand-led consumerism by promoting local, sustainable consumption and examines the intersection of art and commerce in photography. All props and outfits were sourced from second-hand outlets, emphasising waste reduction and celebrating individuality through reimagined style”.
2. 5+5+8+12=30£, Winton & Westbourne & Swanage - from ‘Uncanny Fashion’
3. Octopus, Langoustine, Chalice and Tulip - a reinterpretation of Memento Mori, with each item symbolising transience and decay. “With no skull in sight, the fading flower becomes a quiet reminder mortality—inviting reflection on the beauty and fragility of life”.
4. Eclipse - from the series, ‘Flora Surrealism’, “an exploration of surrealism and abstraction, amplifying the colours, shapes, and lines of flowers to rediscover a planetary aesthetic that blurs the boundary between the organic and the inorganic.
5. Alienated - from ‘Flora Surrealism’
6. Compton Acres - using film photography to explore the world.
It’s that time again…! Join us on Tuesday 10th Feb at 19:30 for our next online f22 meet up.
We are really excited to have @mclee917 for ‘In The Frame’. Michelle has joined our working group and we are really excited for her to share her work and story.
This will be followed by this month’s topic discussion “Standing out in a crowded inbox: Effective communication with commissioners” with @virgilia___ and @louisehagger - this will be a really interesting session with two people who have lots of industry experience.
Come along and have your questions at the ready!

F22 Online Meeting: 2025 Round-Up
To celebrate the end of the year, we’d love everyone to submit one favourite image or moment from 2025. It could be from:
• a shoot • a client project • an event • or a personal piece
Please upload just one image you’d like to showcase or discuss, and rename the file with your own name so we know who to call up when it’s your turn. See the f22 email for details.
We’ll also share a short update on the new Sisters Seen project and how you can get involved.
Let’s celebrate our successes together — bring along your favourite tipple, a mince pie, or whatever you fancy for a mini online end-of-year party.
Looking forward to seeing everyone’s highlight of 2025!
