On Saturday night we had the privilege of being awarded the trophy for BEST SHORT at the 7th Annual @awardthis . I was truly not expecting to win anything so of course I was unprepared to speak. So after cracking a joke to make myself comfortable, I began to ramble and don’t remember what I said after 🤣.
So…First and foremost thank you Allah for it all. Alhamdulillah. Thank you to my wife @heartbeat4many for being the first to believe and the last to doubt. She told me we would win but I didn’t believer her lol. As a filmmaker, I find it difficult to critique movies in public (the group chat is a different story lol). I know how hard it is to get something made and the nuance of artistic style involved. So rather than risk oversimplifying the work, I created recipes for films I’ve seen—each ingredient represents an inspiration or stylistic element that caught my attention.
