East Yard is celebrating 25 years of community resistance and movement-building. Our annual Fighting for Life Celebration uplifts the work of our members and the organization in advancing environmental justice in the region and beyond. We also honor and recognize partners from all sectors of the movement who have helped conspire to bring healthier, more breathable, livable communities for frontline residents.
This year, we will be honoring two incredible champions of environmental justice: Molly Greenberg and Bill Moyer. Their dedication inspires us all to make a difference.
In the past year, we have been faced with and resisted environmental rollbacks, community isolation and violence, and threats to funding. We have met these challenges by creating safe spaces, continuing our education and advocacy work, all while growing our community base that needs a larger, more effective home.
Our Fighting for Life Celebration continues to focus on fundraising for our Community Action and Resilient Environment (CARE) center, which will help meet community needs as a resilience center and organizing space.
So join us on August 1 to share an unforgettable evening of tasty food, lively music, and the joy of coming together. Let’s take this opportunity to uplift one another and celebrate our shared mission.

Yesterday we mobilized to Barstow because BNSF wants to build the biggest rail yard in the country there. That means more trains, more pollution, more health issues in our communities from the ports, to the rail lines on the Eastside, and through the Inland Empire. The Alameda Corridor could have and should have been electrified decades ago. ELECTRIFY ALAMEDA NOW!!!

Rental Assistance for SELA tenants available.
Important things to keep in mind as you apply
1) Your landlord needs to be willing to participate in the program
2) There are limited funds so it's important to apply as soon as you can.
2) It's important to organize if you are experiencing issues as these programs ultimately are only a temporary fix.
We hope you join us this Sunday at The Compost Hub. We'll be showing the hub a little TLC, layering the Compost bins, and accepting food scraps.
New volunteers welcome, and parents may bring their children who will be assigned the sifting station.
Hope to see you there! 💚🪱

BIG Pollution, BIG Problems.
UE’s Green Locomotive Project is working with local community organizations in Barstow, California to keep the BNSF railroad and billionaire Warren Buffet from increasing freight pollution throughout southern California.
BNSF and Buffett are betting they can buy off local politicians in Barstow and increase freight pollution throughout southern California for their benefit. We’re calling on the public to submit written comments by emailing [email protected]. Tell the city to reject the Environmental Impact Report.
This Saturday, May 16, show up at Barstow Community College to make your voice heard. The community will be mobilizing at noon and the hearing starts at 1pm.

We continue making progress in getting the state to release resampling data and expanding the cleanup zone. Let’s continue to demand what we need as a strong informed community!
