‘Communal Devices Intervention’
Join the collective Extra Practice (@extrapractice ) for a workshop exploring collective approaches to communication technologies.
‘Communal Devices Intervention’ invites participants to consider how connection might take place beyond the structures of dominant digital platforms. Drawing on the idea of shared rather than individually owned devices, the session introduces community-run support systems and alternative ways of organising communication infrastructures.
Through discussion and collaborative experimentation, participants will explore how devices can function as communal tools, opening space for different forms of interaction, maintenance, and collective care within digital environments.

‘Mesh of Meshes Intervention’
Join the collective Extra Practice (@extrapractice ) for a hands-on workshop investigating mesh networks as infrastructures for collective communication.
In ‘Mesh of Meshes Intervention’, participants will explore how mesh networking can enable new forms of connectivity outside centralised systems. Through practical exercises and collaborative experimentation, the workshop introduces peer-to-peer and circle-to-circle communication models, examining how these structures support distributed and community-based networks.
The session invites participants to reflect on the social and technical possibilities of decentralised communication and the kinds of collective practices such infrastructures can support.
