Explorers is back with a special edition.
Last week we put out an open call on Instagram and connected with Chronic Preview, who delivers today’s one-hour journey. The show unfolds as a sound story inspired by favorite anime and video-game worlds, built from Japanese artists we keep returning to, from Kenji Kawai to Susumu Hirasawa’s mind-bending, off-world electronics, and the surreal emotional gravity of Masaaki Yuasa’s Kaiba.
Expect mostly hidden gems with a few classics, drifting through atmosphere and hypnotic left-field moments, touched by Susumu Yokota’s airy ambient/deep-house feel and a playful nod to Soichi Terada. The selection also dives into Japanese ’90s CD discoveries gathered during a recent Japan tour.
Explorers returns to Refuge and we’re closing out the year with one of the key voices shaping Berlin’s forward-thinking music scene. Multi-talented producer, DJ, and Overthinker Mob label head @bloomfeld joins us as this week’s guest. It’s the final show of the year, the perfect note to wrap things up.

We are launching a new listening series at Bar Neun in the heart of Kreuzberg!
Each session invites musicians to leave their club sets behind and share music they rarely get to play - from formative tracks to hidden gems and entire genres they love.
Expect an intimate, social atmosphere with great sound and space to connect, listen, and discover together. No need to sit still, move, dance, or just hang as you like. We’d love to see you as many of you as possible.

For the first hour, Berlin-based producer and DJ Mathis Ruffing steps in with his genre-blurring selections and raw, rhythmic productions—an hour of adventurous soundscapes and unexpected turns. DJ Spit takes over the second hour, with both artists gearing up for an upcoming collaborative release.
Our sixth show at @refugeworldwide is happening this Thursday. We are happy to present you two bass driven artists who stand for a new wave of talent straight from the capital.
