9️⃣/1️⃣1️⃣: Not all Heroes that day were humans. Some of them had paws and wagged their tails. 🐾🦮
This post is to commemorate over 300 search and rescue dogs who worked to find survivors in the rubble of the World Trade Center in New York, during the September 11 tragedy that impacted everyone’s lives worldwide during that day.
Rescue dogs played a very important role in guiding rescue teams towards survivors, while paving the terrain to find safe environments to work with. Let’s all thank them for their service. 🚑🚨
One of them was called Sirius. He was a 4 year old labrador K-9 unit trained to detect explosives. He died that morning, and as far as history tells, Sirius is the only dog to have died that day while in service of helping others.
