Our wonderful art teacher Cara from @whimsybycara will then guide you through hand-building with clay, sculpting your very own pieces to take home. No experience needed, just a willingness to have a go and enjoy yourself.

On the last day of the year, we reflect on what has come to pass, and look forward to what is yet to come.
2025 was a year of transition across the estate with much having changed. Along with numerous storms, this year brought the loss of three dear friends of Brook Hall, and giants of the Irish horticulture world; John Gault, Paddy Mackie, and Seamus O’Brien. They are each sorely missed.
To celebrate the coming of the New Year, we offer the story of this ancient oak. Witness to all of the historical events for nearly half a millennia, but yet continuing as a beacon of strength, resilience, and home.
May your roots keep you grounded, may your trunk keep you strong, and may your branches continue to reach for the sky.

At Brook Hall Estate & Gardens, nature & craft move in rhythm. Fallen oak from Storm Amy now rests beside the autumn harvest, drying slowly in the glasshouse.
It will take up to two years before the wood is ready to be used for smoking & grilling, a patient process that mirrors the pace of the land itself. Once part of the estate’s canopy, this oak will one day flavour the food cooked here, completing a beautiful cycle from land to table, from storm to smoke.
