Ever been hungry, caught in the rain, gotten a little lost, or been overly exhausted on the trail? 0/10, do not recommend.
Adventures are better when you prepare yourself ✅
Take a look at trail maps, local rules, safety regulations, and trail use policies before you visit public lands. Leaving it better starts before your visit!

FOR THE RECORD… popcorn is not our #1 pick for trail snacks… but the salt will help your electrolyte levels! Our favorite trail snacks are trail mix and beef jerky. And what’s better than a snack in front of a waterfall?!
Thanks to Scott Justus, Fire Marshal and EMS Coordinator, for these reminders on how to Leave It Better and Prepare Yourself for Adventure! Make sure you’re familiar with all of our preparedness tips so hopefully you and Scott never have to meet out on the trail. 😉

I’ve been to @explorebrevardnc countless times… and this was my FIRST time seeing a white squirrel!
Interestingly enough, the Brevard white squirrels are not considered albinos but instead “a white variant of the eastern gray squirrel. They make up almost a third of Brevard’s squirrel population.” - @cityofbrevard
Want in on the white squirrel magic?! Mark your calendars for the 22nd Annual White Squirrel Weekend May 22–24th, 2026 featuring live music, a vibrant street festival, local shopping, craft beverages, family-friendly activities, and more. The event is free and open to the public.
Have you seen one of Brevard’s famed white squirrels?!?!
