Years ago, Saint Andrews was a bustling town served by an extensive railroad system. Just north of the Pendlebury Lighthouse stood the main station for the Canadian Pacific Railway. The path of the old railroad track has since been transformed into the beautiful Van Horne trail that leads to this historic site. On your next trip, make sure to stop by and see this wonderful beacon of days gone by as it sits quietly, keeping a watchful eye over Passamaquoddy Bay.

Did you know Saint Andrews Wharf was once a bustling port? In 1850s, a railway spur reached the wharf enabling lumber, produce and other goods to be transferred directly between ships and trains. As the demand for raw materials changed and the economy shifted, the wharf continued to serve local fishing boats and ferries and became a picturesque destination for visitors. Today, when you walk the beach at low tide, you can still find remnants of this rich history. On your next trip to Saint Andrews, take time to wander through town and explore our fascinating past.
