Starlings is an inclusive drama project where young people are in the driving seat. They shape the sessions, share ideas, and take part in their own way. The sessions help children build confidence, improve communication skills, and feel genuinely included. And families who've been before say the difference it makes is real 🙌 We're hosting three free sessions at Exeter Library this summer: 30 May, 13 June and 27 June. Open to young people with additional needs, their siblings, and other children from the community. More info here and booking link here 👉/events/1296498605880132 #LoveLibraries

We're sorry to say that tonight's event with Johnny Mains has been cancelled, and postponed to a new date. The book supplier we were using dropped out at short notice, so we have unfortunately been left with no choice but to postpone. The date of the event has changed to Thursday 9th July 2026 at 6:30PM Apologies again! Johnny will be back in July with a fascinating talk, and a chance for you to purchase signed copies of this amazing collection, The Dead of Summer

Spaces are filling up for Afterlives Festival: A Seat at the Table, and we don't want you to miss out on 🌿 This reflective shared lunch on Sunday 17th May brings people together around a communal table to talk about death, memory, and belonging over food. It's facilitated by the wonderful Luna Arts, and the afternoon ends with a talk from textile shroud designer Dagmara Rudkin on the re-emergence of shrouding and the rituals around death we're beginning to reclaim. Your £3 ticket includes a warm, nourishing light lunch with vegetarian options, plus tea or coffee. It all takes place upstairs in Meeting Room 4 at Exeter Library, and numbers are strictly limited, so please book before it's full👉 /events/1459347128832943 #LoveLibraries

Applications are closed, the hopefuls are ready, and now it's over to you! 🎤💙 The Bardic Competition is coming to Exeter Library on Thursday 29 May. Local poets and performers each make their case for why they should be the next official Bard of Exeter, and the audience votes for who takes the title. Exeter is one of the few cities in the country with the ancient right to appoint a Bard, and this tradition stretches back centuries. Past Bards have gone on to win national slams, become Poet Laureate for Exeter City FC, and perform at COP26. On the night you'll also hear from outgoing Bard Kev Payne, with more guests still to be announced. There's a pop-up bar serving alcoholic and soft drinks, and the whole evening is free to attend. Places are limited though, so please do book ahead if you're planning to come. Book your free place here 👉/events/1356273613186955 #LoveLibraries

The Best of Books, the Blurst if Books! ... just a fistful of tickets left for this brilliant bookish comedy show Here's who's arguing about books at Exeter Library on 6 June 😁📚 Robin Ince is a bibliomaniac, author of Bibliomaniac, and co-creator of BBC Radio 4's The Infinite Monkey Cage, and he has never been short of opinions about what's worth reading. Josie Long, three-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee and author of Because I Don't Know What You Mean and What You Don't, almost certainly has a different list. Kev Mud, one of the most talked-about new acts on the circuit, brings his own perspective, and Joanna Neary, writer, actor, comedian, and recent cast member of How Are You? It's Alan (Partridge)completes this brilliant line up 🙌🙌🙌 Edward Tripp and Chris White host. The audience decides. Tickets are £11 + booking fee, age 14+ (some strong language and adult chat). Book via the ticket link in our bio #LoveLibraries @robinince1969 @josielong @kevmudcomedian @wifeonearth #NotJustBooks #ThingsToDoInExeter
