What an insane year 2024 has been. This year showed me a whole lot of the sheer strength that I carry in my mind and spirit. It’s honestly ironic how some events have transpired. As of this year I ended up as the face of a major clothing apparel, got in three different commercials with one being with New Balance, appeared on two news articles sharing my origin story, showcased my artwork in two art galleries, and appeared on the front cover of Gmaro magazine.
While all of this was happening I had also spent a large portion of my time making back and forth hospital visits as my biological mother was battling stage 4 breast cancer to which she then passed away last month. It was absolutely an arduous journey but I know that God moves and lives through you a.k.a the universe. I’m starting to understand now as to why my name means “Mountain of Strength.” My purpose is clear and the blessings are still coming for all those who seek it.
To anyone that is reading this: DON’T FORGET WHY YOU STARTED. Be the trailblazer and the cyclebreaker 🔮☄️

I’m gonna keep this blunt and provide clarity for those that are looking to start their journey in the model industry. I am also an actor but I’ll share things that I have learned so far with my experience in modelling:
1. Modelling is a very hard business to be in. Modelling requires you to constantly do outreach for majority of opportunities and you always need to advocate for yourself because no one will be as invested in you as yourself with exception to your agent from a model agency or mother agency of course. Even with being signed to an agency you still need to advocate for yourself.
2. Generally don’t expect to get paid the moment you begin to get in the industry. Certain branches of modelling tend to have a higher rate of payment. Commercial modelling for example is usually where a lot of models get paid for their work as opposed to fashion or high end modelling. You would need to become a big name in the industry if you expect to make good money in fashion modelling. Understand where you should market yourself! Even when models do get paid, they don’t receive their check until 30 days or even 2 months after they complete their booking so prepare in advance!
3. Expect to travel A LOT. There will be many times where you will get booked with a client that would be in a different area from you. Whether it’s 2 miles or 50 miles away, the client expects you to report on site for your booking. You might be on set for many hours so prepare accordingly. For example, this reel is a behind the scenes of me on set for a campaign shoot with a photographer that I networked with. I had to travel over 2 hours on train and was on set shooting photos for over 5 hours.
4. Find and build community and network with people. Don’t aimlessly build connections with others just to get something. Maintain those relationships and understand who you are so you don’t compromise your values. Not everyone is in your best interest so be mindful of who you connect with.
5. Know the difference between a MODEL agency and a Talent agency. Model agencies for example develop models while talent agencies develop actors and also models. #blackmodel #modeljourney #photoshoot #reality
The story isn’t over. Consciousness begins to spread as you rise into a higher elevation. How you grow into that is also determined by what parts of you that you’re willing to let go of.
