Last week Baltimore was honored to host the @iavmhq Super Regional conference - venue managers from all building types and those business that support them from states on this side of the Mississippi. @region1iavm put in a ton of hard work on the ground to make these three days a success with extra love to @_shimmykshimmyk_ and @philcc89 who led the charge! We kicked off the week with a fabulous keynote from @alhutchinsonbmore , sharing the importance of leading with humility and love. Additional great gems were learned from @53familiesfoundation ’s founder Jameel McClain and @orioles ’s Catie Griggs. Also really proud of our Superintendent of Operations, Phil Carpenter, who represented us on an excellent panel on accessibility in venues. As always love to our partners @wearelevycc @edlen_thepowerpeople @projection_inc and Hospitality Network for making the magic happen behind the scenes. Let’s all strive to not only make our venues welcoming - Let’s make sure all our guests feel welcome.

Spent the better part of Friday in Annapolis, representing the hospitality, industry, and engaging with legislators from across the state. One of my favorite days of the year! Last Friday, the BCC proudly hosted the 2025 Army–Navy Gala, welcoming and serving over 1,400 guests. Our team transformed the Camden Lobby into a dynamic broadcast strip where sports commentators covered the excitement surrounding the annual Army–Navy football game. Meanwhile, the Pratt Street Lobby became a vibrant and elegant red-carpet entrance, complete with a spirited Battle of the Bands featuring both Army and Navy ensembles.   Inside, our 36,000+ square-foot ballroom was transformed into a stunning gala space with 149 tables, a main stage, and a dance floor—creating an unforgettable evening honoring those who serve. Guests gathered to celebrate their dedication, service, and shared bond through one of America’s most iconic traditions: football.   To complete the evening, our catering partner Levy served a delicious surf-and-turf gourmet meal, making the night truly memorable for all in attendance. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of long time Executive Director, Peggy Daidakis. A pillar of the hospitality industry and a mentor to many, Peggy’s illustrious career spanned over 40 years as a dedicated civil servant to the City of Baltimore. Peggy retired in 2022. These events are more than traditions—they’re a reflection of our commitment to Baltimore and the relationships we’re grateful to nurture within our community. Thanks to our incredible catering partners, thousands of guests receive a completely free holiday meal, and whatever is not consumed is carefully preserved and donated to Paul’s Place and Helping Up Mission to continue supporting neighbors in need.   This year, we were honored to serve over 5,000 guests, and we’ll be sharing an update soon on the full amount of meals and items donated! Last week, the BCC attended @mdtourism Maryland Travel and Tourism Summit in College Park. Our Sales and Marketing team exhibited at the event, participated in industry sessions, and connected with fellow DMOs and tourism professionals. Executive Director @execdirectbcc , announced that MTTS will be coming to the Baltimore Convention Center in 2026—bringing travel and tourism leaders to Charm City. As a proud MTC member, the BCC is honored to host next year’s event and showcase Baltimore’s renaissance in action. From our unmatched culinary scene to world-class attractions, our community has so much to offer. Great day with great folks from the Charming and Windy Cities! @visitbmore hosted a group of clients that help comprise our “Innovation Think Tank” hailing from Chicago. A great day for a Ravens win tho ;) Sharing the suite with @greaterbaltimorecommittee means we get to talk Baltimore’s #momentum with fabulous leaders like @workandprogress and @shelondastokes . Big moves are coming! Also… how can you not love the @ravens_marchingband ?! Banger after banger on and off the field. Their post game concerts aren’t to be missed!

✨Today, the @bmore_equity Office kicked off Civil Rights Week at the Baltimore Convention Center with their 32nd Annual Civil Rights Breakfast.✨   Hundreds gathered for a morning of reflection and inspiration, featuring a catered breakfast by our partners Levy, a moving performance by @morganstateu Choir, and motivational speeches from regional leaders, including U.S. Congressman @repkweisimfume , @sen_alsobrooks , and @mayorbmscott and more. The event honored the nation’s civil rights history and recognized the influential leaders continuing to advance equity and justice today. Awards were presented to pioneers who have made a lasting impact for minorities and underrepresented communities. The Baltimore Convention Center is proud to have hosted this important event — and to see members of our I.D.E.A. I had breakfast at the world famous @lexington_market with the fabulous @jessicablackwellparks of @bmorepublicmarkets . Had a “Captain Crunch” at @sunnysidecafe13 and a fantastic jalepeno hot honey caramel latte at @blackacresroastery . Stopped by @faidleysseafood to say hi to one of my fantastic teammates, @jamie66griffin , who’s been holding down the wet bar there for years! All this before 10am! What an amazing asset to have right downtown and only a short walk or scooter ride from the @baltimoreconventioncenter ! 243-years-young and not missing a beat! Experience Charm City one bite at a time!
