First, death blights the earth. Before long, a seed is planted that sparks new life.

Old Maybe has been equal parts uplifting and deeply traumatic. Due to interpersonal drama within the band, coupled with a personal creative paradigm shift, I am eager to turn the page. My new love for Ableton production and sound design has propelled me forward in ways I never thought possible.

Thank you to all the faithful supporters who have literally kept me alive. I hope you’ll continue to support me as I embark on a new creative journey all on my own.
all mutable festival at the end of june with support by vox populi
[spasm] embodied resistance brings together experimental qpoc artists from the so called us east and west who represent different body centered or explosively emotive performance
our intention is to gather disruptive and discordant performances that are singular in vision, emotionally confrontational, and highlights the body as a source of agency and political change.
contemporary governance relies on dissociating the individual from their senses and intuition while inversely degrading the non-white, non-male and queer body as a policed object that can be immobilized, mutilated, exploited, or displaced arbitrarily: attacks on trans rights, abortion and sexual expression, increasing restrictions on medical care and harm reduction, police violence, gentrification and deportation all have this in common. The political attack on the body forces the individual to become disconnected from their sense of physical agency, and consequently, political agency, even personhood. our aim is for people to interrogate and heal their relationships with their body and emotions outside of the framework of corporate self-care and the medical-industrial complex as the first step in decolonizing their psyches.

ODE TO @oldmaybe_ ON WFMU A FEW WKS AGO!
Here’s to Jazz and her set she did on my show! Last year Jazz and I binged Summer House on bravo and sent an insane level of texts about it 😂 most of our friendship is just sharing bravo memes and videos of all the amazing moments, so sometimes I forget how we first connected through a shared love of music diy spaces and how much we care about making cool stuff happen our own way ✨💥😈 oh and she’s a great artist!

“8 years after ‘Piggity Pink,’ Jazz Adam has returned with a very different kind of Old Maybe album… She has reached into the depths and pulled out her most personal and uncompromising songs yet, becoming a master of her own idiosyncratic solo music practice. Forgoing the guitar in favor of a disciplined piano roll methodology, these songs are both economical and sonically expansive, every bizarre color essential to the heaving, irregular pulse. Old Maybe’s songwriting has evolved into a sound that is dark, close-up, and direct almost to the point of discomfort. The album, temporally speaking, is quite short, yet every song is so psychically dense that the per dollar psychiatric value far exceeds almost every album 10x the length. Over the course of this time, the blunt, plainspoken lyrics melt from the concrete to the deviant subconscious, underscoring the whimsical sense of play that darts through the Spartan austerity of sound—joyous in destructive creation.”
