It's Giant Silk Moth time again!!!! A pair of Cecropia moths linked together in their final act as adults. It seems cruel that such beauty only lasts a week or two and with no functional mouthparts, this is what it's all about. Without host plants, the cycle stops here. Plant more caterpillar food!!!!!

Orobanche uniflora, one flowered cancer root is an unusual fully parasitic plant, producing no green leaves and a once a year show of gorgeous blooms. Had only seen this a few times before but was treated to a meadow full of them this morning. Gotta love those parasites, it's a lifestyle....

Hey there, plant friends! I need some help with ID for this Lonicera. It came to me a few years back from the garden of a long time member of New England Wildflower Society who had passed. Mrs. Farrington's daughter contacted me, explaining the property would be sold quickly and as her mother was such an enthusiastic gardener, she asked if we might come and rescue plants before the impending sale. This vine caught my eye. It blooms red like Lonicera semper items, yet the narrow foliage has me flummoxed. I'm grateful for any leads, could be a cultivar or selection and likely no longer on the market. Thank you!!!

Hard to believe this was 11 years ago. This place and these people have meant so much to me especially now in retrospect. Sadly 2 of these fine humans are passed on now. With a heavy heart I wish you well Jenn, may you and Mike join that delicious potluck in the sky.
