Evolving Web partnered with the Royal Ontario Museum to modernize the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame exhibit with a bilingual touchscreen experience. To enhance usability, navigation controls were positioned at the bottom of the screen for wheelchair accessibility, and buttons featured large click states for better touchscreen functionality. The dark background reduced glare, and larger type improved readability. Inspired by the angular lines of the Canadian Maple Leaf in the exhibit logo, the interface incorporated structured horizontal and vertical linework to create a clear visual hierarchy. Minimal colour use, with gold accents and narrow headings, reinforced the exhibit’s sophisticated and timeless aesthetic. Thanks to the ROM and project team: Olha Davydovych, Lisa Faieta, Jasmin Merchant, Jesse Dyck, Roman Pavlyk, and Muhammad Saqib Sarwar! #kiosk #interactive #design #digital #rom #cmhf

Our recent project highlight!🤝 We have been closely collaborating with the Art Gallery of Ontario @agotoronto on projects to attract visitors and promote memberships—crucial for the gallery’s business strategy! 🥳 Working with the team at one of the largest and most distinguished art museums in North America, we audited the site and delivered workflow improvements. We delivered a Drupal homepage redesign and updated the sitewide look and feel to reflect the gallery’s new brand. As you can see here, the pages feature the museum art pieces throughout the exhibitions, events, visitor information and membership pages. We also supported the creation of a microsite for AGO’s digital art and culture magazine, the Foyer @read.foyer . I’m thrilled to see growing interest from peers in the design and social impact space around improving digital accessibility. My speaking tour continues… This Friday December 6th, I’ll be presenting at the EvolveDrupal Toronto Summit at the University of Toronto. Hosted by my friends at Evolving Web, this event brings together designers, developers, and digital strategists, as well as communications leaders from post-secondary institutions. Alongside Fran Wyllie from @northern.co and Pierre Fanzhu from @evolving_web , we’ll be delivering a session on “Designing and Building for Digital Accessibility”. We’ll share practical tools and strategies to help you create inclusive brand and web experiences—because accessibility isn’t a “nice-to-have”, it’s essential. If you’d like to attend and cost is a barrier, feel free to message me for a discount code. 👉🏻 Details: EvolveDrupal.com (link in bio) #EvolveDrupal #a11y #DigitalAccessibility P.S. I’m now booking speaking engagements for 2025. While digital accessibility has been a recent focus, I also offer talks and workshops on design for social change, communications for urban planning and community engagement, career pathways, and more. If you have a conference, webinar series, podcast, or classroom, I’d love to hear your ideas—feel free to reach out!

🌟 Recapping an awesome #EvolveUX meet-up! 🌟 🗓️ This Tuesday, we had another fantastic EvolveUX meet-up, led by our enthusiastic team. The atmosphere was amazing as we dived into a whirlwind of creativity and innovation. 👩‍💻We were treated to four diverse website presentations. Each presenter had just 5 minutes to take us through their project’s highs and lows, and they delivered with flair! It was a showcase of not just design excellence, but also the compelling stories behind each project. We explored: 💫 A sleek personal assistant’s landing page by Olamide Olanipekun 💫 A community college’s web redesign by Shane Collier 💫 An AI introduction landing page for designers by Morgane Neto 💫 A personal website of the artist and musician Alexandra Gorlin-Crenshaw 📝 The feedback rounds were rich with honest, actionable feedback. Attendees shared their perspectives, fostering a valuable exchange of ideas. 🙌 A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this EvolveUX meet-up a success. Your enthusiasm and willingness to share and learn is what makes our community thrive. 📅 Next EvolveUX: January 22 2024: Mark your calendars for our next session. We’re excited to see what new ideas and projects will emerge! Sign up now! Link is in Bio! #EvolveUX #DesignCommunity #WebDesign
