Funny enough calling you Noah still would have been weird for me because I didn’t get a lot of the time to do so plus your dance name was just easier for me always lol😂. It’s only been a few days, well two to be exact, since ya left this earth and man the moment I got the message saying ya finally earned your wings I almost cried myself to sleep something I haven’t done in a long time😭. Mentally, I am not okay right now and it’s probably gonna be awhile before I am tbh, but one thing that for sure keeps me pushing is the strength, courage, and resilience you showed while you were present 🙏. You really loved this dance shit with all your heart, and I got to witness you do it even tho I wasn’t there at the very beginning of your journey 👌. I remember telling you when ya was getting into flexn those first few months that you could go seek help from more experienced people in the style other than me because I am not the answer man 🕵🏾♂️ and you told me “yes bro absolutely I just prefer how you teach certain things in the style”. I thank you for standing ten toes and believing in the vision for FlexN in the south I had when ya could have easily walked away because people told you I was trash 🤷🏾♂️. I’m never gonna forget that and I am never gonna forget you. Every chance I get ima flood the timeline talking about you because you were a great human being, a great student, and a great brother anyone could ever ask for🙏✊. Ima stand ten toes for you always even when you aren’t here 🚶🏾♂️💯. All the things you didn’t get to do ima make sure I do em bro and you can believe that✊🙏 . THIS is what it's like to give dancers a platform and SAFE space to express themselves and make their mark. I cannot emphasize enough, whether you're new to dance or just want to watch some AMAZING talent as a spectator/cheerleader, GO. TO. LOCAL. BATTLES. FESTIVALS. SHOWS. WORKSHOPS. PERFORMANCES. EVERYTHING DANCE RELATED. This is where you see us REALLY elevated and try new formats in a sensible way that WORKS because this is LIFE to a lot of us. If it cost to get in, PAY FOR THAT TICKET. These hosts put in their own money out of pocket to curate a great time and sometimes put that money back towards good causes. If it's free and you and some friends want something different besides the club or the bar, PULL UP! Dancers feed off good energy! If you're wanting to start your own dance journey because you're genuinely passionate about it or you want to be more active in a fun way, hit up those classes and weekly sessions. There's so many hosted on different days by different dancers. Sometimes focusing on certain styles to help you in a more hands on way. (See last slide!!) 📣
This community is SO welcoming and supportive, no matter your level as long as YOU continue to help keep it that way. Big companies want to capitalize off our hard work because it's "trendy" rn. DO. BETTER. Y'all heard about the DISASTROUS prelims that happened this past weekend at Red Bull. I suffered from a panic attack and close to a heat stroke thanks to terrible formatting and location (3 TIGHT cypher cirlcles where the audience couldn't see us, over 90°F & HUMID Texas summer weather, big men pushing when smaller women like me could barely breathe or get in). I had to step outside and recover so my friends didn't see me like that... Dance has always been a form of therapy for me. Any environment that TRIGGERS a negative reaction like that will NEVER be getting my support again. To top it off, so many of my insanely talented friends got SNUBBED an opportunity to show what the Dallas dance scene is all about.
Dallas is my home. Born and raised. No matter what other cities say, or what big companies do to misrepresent us, it'll always have a place in my heart. D-Town FOREVER 💙
