I cannot be swayed to believe that my people are offenders, showing violence and causing chaos.
I know that we are soft and gentle
I see it in the way my grandma cooks for my family, always making sure we had enough.
I see it in the way my mom raised me to have compassion.
I see it in the way my dad and grandpa work and work and came home happy to see their family.
I see it in the way my great grandma was always gentle and generous with me.
I see it in the way we take care of our elders and the way our elders love us.
One thing I could rely on growing up was being able to rush to my dad, laughing, happy he was home.
I never once worried he wouldnโt be back in my childhood, and I am eternally grateful for that.
But there are children who wonโt have this luxury; and mine and the hearts of many ache for them.
In every life Iโd choose my culture. One of infinite beauty, love, and kindness. I hope one day everyone will see the beauty too.
